Succulents & Cacti Bags - 3rd June 2017

Sewing is a wonderful pass time and a wonderful skill. It is, however, not conducive to tidyness. I have more bits and bobs than I know what to do with and, as a result, am spending approximately 20% of my time searching. I am still half-way though a house move, my possessions spread between two homes and dozens of boxes and bags. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention and, as such, I am turning my hand to storage solutions.

I am none too handy with woodwork so I will be making my storage drawers from fabric, I have my trusty calico which is my current favourite material, and a brilliant plant print linen. The linen is sturdy and durable and the print is quite en vogue - succulents and cacti seam to be everywhere at the moment.

I have used some simple techniques to turn the fabric into an oblong drawer / bag with a big turn over of the lining fabric to act as a handle. The bag is currently sitting atop my window sill holding my essentials; scissors, ruler, tape measure, pins, some old dress patterns, and a dozen or so off cuts which always come in handy.

I really love the pattern and I think the snazzy lining combined with the sensible calico outer is an excellent match. Now to plot out some other sizes and get this listed on the shop so that others can benefit from the organisational power of the cactus.
